  • Is coaching covered by insurance?

Coaching is not covered by insurance. In order to make coaching more accessible, I offer discounted rates for folks experiencing financial hardship.

  • What is your "style" as a coach?

I believe the most important role I can play in the lives of my clients is supporter. As a part of a client's support system, I can play many roles including but not limited to: encourager, nurturer, accountability partner, advocate, listener, rock. I use humor when appropriate, and I always do my best to make sure my clients feel confident in their goals and progress in the context of coaching.

  • How long will coaching take?

It is different for everyone. Some clients find they only need support for a few weeks, others months, and others years. It is my job to make sure my clients are continuing to benefit and enthusiastically consent to services, without "overstaying my welcome".

  • Do sex coaches watch or participate in intimacy?

Nope! Coaching entails educating clients, discussing practical strategies, and offering social support for positive change and growth.

  • Do coaches have to have certification?

There is no regulation body for coaching, and cannot therefore require any kind of training or certification. Certification does enhance credibility, if a coach has no other training experience that equips them with coaching skills (like mental health counseling, for example).

  • Can a therapist offer coaching?

Yes! However, in order to maintain an ethical boundary between services, there are many measures a therapist will take to ensure transparency of services and appropriate scope of practice. Read more about the difference between therapy and coaching, here.

  • What is the difference between therapy and coaching?

Therapy and coaching can address different aspects of sexual challenges. Therapy focuses on deeper emotional and psychological issues, like healing from trauma, overcoming shame, or addressing sexual dysfunction tied to mental health concerns. It often involves exploring past experiences to better understand their impact on your current relationships and intimacy.

Coaching, on the other hand, is about practical tools and actionable strategies to improve your sexual and relational life. It’s ideal for building confidence, enhancing pleasure, learning communication skills, or exploring new dynamics like kink or non-traditional relationships. Coaching focuses on moving forward with clarity and empowerment, rather than diving into unresolved emotional wounds.
